Bechstein Piano in upcoming auction
Spring is upon us already and birds are busy in the hedgerows creating this year’s best decorated nests. You too can join in the fun, our monthly Antiques and Interior Auction is full to bursting with a huge variety of colourful and practical lots for your home.

We have some excellent furniture including a fine Colonial style real rattan conservatory suite, boasting a sofa, two lovely deep armchairs and three handy tables. It’s in excellent condition, and frankly far better value than anything available today in your local garden centre.

For a sweet spring melody, we can offer a wonderful Bechstein grand piano. The case is in excellent condition with lovely figured rosewood, and the model ‘A’ was cleverly designed by the Royal warranted company to fit in a more compact space than many concert pianos. The metal frame is in excellent condition and after a tweak to the tuning it will sing a long nicely. It’s crazy when you consider these wonderful piano’s sell in dealerships for £12-15,000 and yet you can usually buy one from us for a fraction of that price…and we can even professionally deliver it on request direct to you for a small fee. They make wonderful statements in a hall, music or drawing room, covered in your favourite family photos!

Silver is plentiful again this month. I rather like a pretty pair of Queen Anne style candlesticks, made in 1960, they remain in near perfect condition and will light up a desk or mantel.

To cut a dash on parade, I can recommend a very fetch pair of Redcoats. Perhaps not a choice for every Scot, but these are in fact Irish in origin. Two 19th century Regimental coats from the 88th Regiment of Foot, also known as the Connaught Rangers. Both coats are deep crimson wool with light yellow facings. I suspect most will struggle to wear one, as  they were sized for the drummer boys, or perhaps a teenage ensign. I will be interested to hear any comments on their likely history. The Regiment saw service in India, Egypt, Sudan and South Africa, and also in the Western Theatre during WWI.

As usual we have a very diverse group of glass, ceramics, table lamps, jewellery, and works of art, including some large decorative figures of the Buddha. It’s up to you how you decorate your next, but we have over three hundred lots this month to choose from.

Next month looks like another bumper sale, with a large Scottish farmhouse already cleared to our modern store ready for photography and cataloguing. We are always happy to consider single items or a whole collection. Our valuation team prides itself on giving fair, honest and above all friendly help and advice. Call, Email or WhatsApp our expert valuation team anytime.

The Auction starts at 10am at our saleroom and online at brownsasr.co.uk.  Telephone and commission bids are accepted by emailing info@brownsasr.co.uk.
