Bronze cast horse statue

One of the top lots of the day was Jamaica, a bronze thoroughbred racehorse in Verdigris by local sculptor, Frippy Jameson. The focus of the piece is on a calm and tranquil moment, in contrast to the athleticism and agility of these valuable horses and realised £1,824.

Pip McGarry’s Zebras brought the vibrancy of colour so enjoyed in African landscapes to life while Zebras enjoy a peaceful drink. An internationally renowned wildlife artist, McGarry is well known for his commitment to supporting the development of wildlife artists through his Marwell International Wildlife Art Society, his guided camps for artists through remote parts of Africa and as a mentor on the BBC’s “A Brush with the Wild”. Zebras realised £1,264.

Amongst the art was an array of shotguns, jewellery, silver and sporting memorabilia. For tennis fans, there was the opportunity to own a Wimbledon umpire’s uniform and for racing fans, Frances MacDonald RGI At The Races used acrylics masterfully to illustrate the frenzied excitement of horse racing, selling for £510.
